Classic Blush Pink Wedding at Rosecliff Mansion, Newport, RI

There’s something undeniably cinematic about photographing a wedding at Rosecliff Mansion. The sweeping lawns, the Atlantic crashing in the distance, and the white marble ballroom that feels plucked from another era. Marisa and Ryan’s elegant summer wedding was the kind of day that makes you grateful to do this work — and the kind of light that makes your camera sing.

Before the ceremony, Marisa and Ryan chose to do a first look at Brenton Point State Park. With wind-whipped waves and a wide horizon as their backdrop, we had ample space and time to capture both portraits and candids without the rush of a timeline. It’s always a gift when couples finish photos pre-ceremony — it allows for a relaxed atmosphere and uninterrupted cocktail hour later on.

Marisa wore a breathtaking Galia Lahav gown with a detachable train that we made sure to feature in motion — swooping behind her on the lawn, dancing in the wind at Brenton Point, and making a grand entrance down Rosecliff’s stone staircase. Ryan and his groomsmen were a vision of understated coastal prep in matching Vineyard Vines ties and sharp Armani suits.

The ceremony took place on Rosecliff’s lawn overlooking the ocean. To capture the full scope, I positioned my second shooter behind the guests and slightly elevated for a wide ceremony sweep, while I stayed up front for tight emotional moments. This dual coverage ensures we document not just how it felt, but how it looked from every angle — something I prioritize in all my wedding work.

Inside the mansion, the reception was aglow in candlelight — warm, moody, and intimate. For fellow photographers: shooting in low light like this means leaning into a wide aperture (I shot much of it at f/1.4) and using a touch of on-camera flash bounced behind me, just enough to highlight faces without overwhelming the ambient glow. The look feels as dreamy in photos and accurate to how it looked in person.

Marisa and Ryan brought such joy to the day — elegant, yes, but never too serious. Their celebration was filled with laughter, choreographed dance moments, and a packed dance floor beneath the gilded ceilings of one of Newport’s most iconic venues. Gorgeous cake by Ana Parzych, dance floor packed by Beantown Band.
