A New Years Eve Blended Family Wedding at Belle Mer in Newport, RI
I love a New Years Eve wedding, everyone is in the mood for black tie and a big night, and to be honest, any excuse for confetti feels like a worthy one. This beautiful couple spent their day in Newport, getting ready at the Viking before heading to Belle Mer for the reception. Two exquisite venues and they were up for anything, including braving the cold for outdoor shots.
So as a Rhode Island based photographer, I’m genuinely spoiled with beautiful scenery and venues, and these are two of the best. This New Years Eve wedding spoiled me even more because Jen and Sean are not only stunningly beautiful people, but they can’t stop laughing and cuddling each other, which gives me so many opportunities for great candids. They didn’t even need my dumb jokes! There is no comparison to genuine laughter in photographs.
I was obsessed with Jen’s gown and the way it flowed as she walked, so I grabbed her fur stole and we headed outside first thing to dance in the street. Bellevue avenue is filled with old buildings and lights, which I knew would create some sweet bokeh and character for my backgrounds.
We got to Belle Mer before guests began to arrive and headed directly out to the lawn for portraits. The way the wind caught Jen’s hair and their easy snuggles were just perfection against the lights of the Newport Bridge.
